Dee Casper’s parents divorce left him emotionally shattered and searching for love, even thought just a young child. The emotional turmoil appeared to be ADHD, which led to him being put on Ritalin. As a young adult, he feared rejection and struggled to build close relationships until a good mentor helped him get to know a sympathetic and powerful Jesus.

MY BRUSH WITH SUICIDE

Aron Crews had always been a happy kid. As a young adult a relationship breakup coincided with treating acne with a drug that threw him into a severe depression to the point of suicidal ideation. Before Aron realized the drug was at fault, he’d pressed closer to Jesus and learned great life lessons.

Kessia Reyne Bennett started experiencing panic attacks in her teens. For eight hears she desperately tried to find relief through legalism. After nearly dropping out of college, she discovered that she wasn’t crazy, she simply had a well-known disorder. This began a journey of recovery that speaks to any and all who have struggled with similar problems.

Elise Harboldt’s adolescent angst led her into distorted thinking on her body and anorexia. She speaks eloquently about body image, legalism, bulimia and anorexia, perfectionism, shame cycles and ultimately redefines beauty and health for the benefit of all.

KEEPING BODY AND SOUL THROUGH BIPOLAR

Laura Whidden began showing signs of bipolar disorder at 12 years old. The road ahead of her was filled with rough patches including anorexia, drama with friends and family, and the slow process of learning how to balance medication, prayer, counseling, and lifestyle in managing the illness.

Tim Allston likes to spell his name with lower-case letters because it helps shrink him down to size. He has learned the hard way that ego can become an addiction, leading to similar devastation in personal, social and professional life. Fired 13 times, this author and speaker has since written the how-to guide on overcoming pride.

JESUS' TAKE ON RACISM

Joel Avery has suffered through subtle and not-so-subtle forms of racism within and without the church. He gives a heartfelt testimony and appeal to all of us to acknowledge the elephant in the living room and to talk frankly and redemptively about it.

Juliet Van Heerden stayed married to an addict long enough to learn that even she had an addiction—to him. Since then Julie has been on a path of recovery from codependency, educating and assisting others in their own journey of recovery.

Michael Carducci’s 20 years of gay sexual addiction ended when he learned of the love and power of Jesus. He began to wrestle with what he considers the real cause, his intimacy deficit. Since beginning his own journey of recovery he has educated thousands on how to get started on theirs.
